         Pune-III Commissionerate is carved out of earlier Pune-I Commissionerate and Solapur Division of Pune-II Commisisonerate. Pune-III  Commr’te has started functioning from 1^st Nov. 2002.

         During the year 2009-10 considering the jurisdiction of Pune-III Commr’te Gross Revenue of Rs. 751.23 Crores was collected  as Central Excise duties.

         The headquarters of Pune III Commissionerate is located in Pune. Pune-III Commissionerate has a jurisdiction spread over some of the areas of Pune city and Pune district and entire Solapur District in Maharashtra state. It has a concentration of units involved in sales of petroleum products and manufacturing of automobiles, engineering goods, Soft Drink concentrates etc. Largest revenue paying units are John Deere Equipment Pvt. Ltd., Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd., Coco Cola India Pvt. Ltd., Cummins India Ltd., Grasim Cement, Karmayogi Shankarraoji Patil S.S.K. Ltd., Kalyani Carpenter Special Steels Ltd., Fiat India Automobiles Ltd., Shree Vitthal Sahakari S.S.K. Ltd., Sahakar Maharshi Shankarrao Patil S.S.K., etc.

           The office of the Commissioner,  is located on the 1st floor, 'F' wing 'ICE house’ Complex Opp. Wadia College Sassoon Road Pune 411001. There are 5 Divisions in Pune-III Commissionerate each headed by a Assistant / Deputy Commissioner. The offices of Division VI, VII, VIII, IX  are located at the first floor 'ICE house ' complex Opp. Wadia College Sassoon Road Pune 411001 and Solapur Divisional office and its Ranges are located in Solapur Dist
